It was announced in April, but RIM has released a new sneak peek video that shows off the browser, media player interface, and social features of the upcoming BlackBerry OS.

BlackBerry 6 is getting a WebKit browser, a social app-slash-feed-reader called Social Feeds, and an iPhone-esque media player. You can see all of that in the new video, plus a look at BlackBerry Messenger and the new universal search box that lets you find files anywhere on your device. The whole thing looks very iPhone-and-Android-influenced, but that’s not a bad thing. Every time I try to use an old-school BlackBerry, I forget that I can’t just tap the screen to make something happen. But BlackBerry 6 is a whole new world: a world with pinch and zoom!

Looking for a nice app for your Windows Mobile handset which interfaces with your Dropbox storage? DroppedBoxx might be just the app you’ve been waiting for.

Though still fairly nascent, DroppedBoxx already lets you browse your Dropbox files, download them (with a quick email option), and upload. You can also take a photo and upload it, and the developer plans on adding an option to record and upload files soon. Full sync, folder creation, and usage stats will also be added in an upcoming version.

The mobile-friendly version of the site features with games out of the nearly-30,000 in Kongregate’s library, but they’ve selected games that will translate well to a mobile environment. This will be a good test of whether Flash is going to shake up the mobile world or fall on its face.

According to CNET, the site is talking to some of its most popular game developers in an effort to get them to adapt their games for Android. The lack of a mouse isn’t the main problem with translating the games to a touchscreen, the Kongregate folks say. As it turns out, you can pretty easily set the trackpad to work with hover events. The real problem is with games that require a physical keyboard.

Apparently battery life hasn’t been a crippling issue in tests of the Kongregate games on Android, despite what Steve Jobs has said. Still, the Kongregate folks recommend hooking up your charger if you’re going to get into an intense gaming session.

The HTC Wildfire has been officially unveiled. Powered by Android 2.1, it features a 3.2-inch QVGA touchscreen, 525-MHz Qualcomm MS7225 processor, 5.0-megapixel autofocus camera, 512MB Flash memory, 384MB RAM, and A-GPS.

All in all, the Wildfire’s shaping up as a very competent device from HTC, one that will appeal to minimalists and thrifty folks alike.

Looks like Verizon is having a bit of a blowout on the Palm Pre Plus: it’s fallen to just $30 on a two-year contract. That’s the same price as Big Red’s Pixi Plus and a pretty substantial discount over Sprint and AT&T, both of which will charge you $149 — and man, AT&T hasn’t even started selling the thing yet, so someone’s going to look awful silly on launch day. No word on whether this cut-rate pricing will last or whether the Pixi Plus will fall to free, but if you’re looking for a cheap way to get in on the future of HP, well, now’s your chance.
