For now ASUS’ Transformer Prime is the lonely king of the quad-core tablet hill, but as we’d heard a few weeks back, it looks like it’ll have company soon enough. Insider sources have reported to DigiTimes that you’ll be able to snag a nifty Android tablet with a quad-core GPU for between $459 and $599 in 2012. Acer and Lenovo are apparently set to target Apple’s iPad tablet as well as ASUS with NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 GPU tablets running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) in the first quarter of 2012. These sources also stated that since neither Acer nor Lenovo have a direct advantage over Apple or Amazon’s tablet devices, they’d only be competing for about 10 to 15 percent of the total PC tablet market. And yes, there are mathematical formulas that prove that owning a reasonably priced tablet with a quad-core GPU does make you the coolest kid on the block.

Called the Flexbook, this computer by “Taiwan-based designer hao-chun huang, offers portable, multi-use computing within a single device. the concept was shortlisted from over 1000 designs in our recent designboom competition ‘a life with future computing’.” No word yet on pricing or availability.

with a waterproof keypad and 21:9 screen, ‘flexbook’ is designed for portability and range of use among the constantly connected. featuring a flexible structure with a center joint, the laptop can be folded into a range of configurations, while a 180-degree swivel touch screen offers different configurations of viewing, including a laptop and tablet mode.

HP CEO Mark Hurd has resigned, effective immediately, “over previously undisclosed allegations of sexual harassment and financial shenanigans involving a relationship with a former HP contractor.” This news sent company stock shooting down before the market closed today.

HP said that Hurd was forced out after the company discovered that he had a secret relationship with a woman who worked with HP on marketing matters, and that he falsified expense and other financial reports to conceal the relationship and help get the contractor paid for work she didn’t do.

Gabble has Chatroulette’s simple web app setup, but with the privacy of Skype. You can set up groups or send a video to a single person. It also works on mobile devices, which is a nice perk. The downside is that Gabble isn’t realtime chat, it’s more like video messaging.

Part of the process will involve laying off some 9,000 workers over several years as HP moves to automate more and more of its data centers and integrate more of EDS, but the company is planning to add some 6,000 jobs in different areas over the same period of time, so the hurt isn’t too bad. Taken together with the Palm acquisition, this means that both HP’s enterprise and consumer divisions will undergo some radical changes in the next few months.

With technologies like flexible OLED touchpanels, a real wearable wrist computer will most certainly be coming sooner than later. This Sony concept shows what it may look like. Featuring a slide-out keypad, flexible display, and hopefully, a user-friendly interface.

Sure, it’s a design concept, but just look at the gorgeous pictures,keeping in mind that all of this technology is almost ready. We so want this, but it’s probably not going to be coming from Sony.
