Google gets a new image search on Android and iPhone
If you used Google to search for images on an iPhone or Android before this week, you know the experience was a bit lacking. Fortunately, Google has revamped its mobile image search, doing away with that one-image-at-a-time, no-pinch-to-zoom nonsense. The new image results page uses square thumbnails to maximize the number of images on screen. It’s about time, Google!
The new viewer mode for individual images is a huge improvement, too. The images are shown at as large a size as possible — instead of just a slightly bigger thumbnail, as in the old version — and the navigation buttons are big and easy to use. Return to thumbnails and view full size buttons fade in when you touch the screen. All in all, it’s a huge improvement over the old image search experience.
